Nathan R. Sterling Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 13, 1950, at Charity Hospital. He was born to the union of Ernest Piper, II and Dorothy Sterling-Piper. He began his education in the New Orleans Public School System and later went on to graduate from George Washington Carver Sr. High School. Nathan served in the US Army as a SP4 where he was a Skilled Rifleman and awarded the Para-Jumper Medal before being honorably discharged in 1981. Upon discharge from the Military Nathan continued his education receiving his associate’s degree from Delgado Community College. After completing college Nathan was gainfully employed by the United States Postal Service as an Automotive Technician. Later retiring after 30 years of service. He accepted Christ at an early age later becoming a member of Beacon Light Full Gospel Baptist, church under the leadership of Bishop Darryl S. Brister, where he served in ministry for many years as the “Camera Man.” On March 23, 1998 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Lynette Rogers-Sterling, a union that spans for 26 wonderful years. Their marriage blossomed through shared faith, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they navigated life’s challenges, celebrating milestones and creating cherished memories.He departed from his earthly existence on Thursday, September 05, 2024 in his home with his beloved wife and his 2 chosen daughters at his side. He was proceeded in death by his father Ernest Piper, Jr., mother Dorothy Sterling-Piper siblings: Ernest Piper III (Betty Ann), Frank Jerome Piper, Lois Y. Piper, Allen Piper, Sylvester Sterling, Julius Romalis Sterling. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lynette Sterling, 6 children: Tangie Sterling, Nathan Sterling Jr., (Calandra), Naitrail Brown, Ryan Cojo (Andrea), Ticola Gasper (Irving), Jutunn Taylor (Garry). 5 siblings: Gwendolyn Piper-Turner (Willie), Ike E. Sterling, David Sterling (Joy), Elvera Walter, Emelda Sterling, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends also pastor, officers and members of Victory Community Church, employees of Trinity Learning Academy, Ochsner Baptist Women's Service, J.P. Morgan Bank, United States Postal Service and County of Gwinette, GA Board of Education (Centerville Elementary) are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Littlejohn Funeral Home, 2163 Aubry Street, beginning 10am. Rev. Otis Petteway III, officiating. Parlor visitation 9 am until service time ONLY. Interment Garden of Memories Cemetery.
