Mary Ellen Jones

Mary Ellen Jones, age 90, of New Orleans, Louisiana, peacefully departed this life on May 5, 2026, surrounded by love and cherished memories. She was a lifelong resident, having attended Albert Wicker Elementary, Andrew J. Bell Junior High, and Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School. Mary dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of New Orleans, retiring as a Supervisor for the Assessor’s Office. She was known for her warm spirit, love for family, and joyful presence. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen DeCuire; sisters, Joycelyn Smith, Linda DeCuire, Juanita Osaya, and Carolyn DeCuire; brothers, Leo DeCuire and Larry DeCuire; son, Karl Jones; grandson, Juan Smith Sr.; and godson, Brian Ballard Sr. Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory her sisters, Gayle Ford and Ann Washington; children, Jacquelyn Robinson (Andre), Burnell Jones (Janet), Terese Jones, and Bibiana Johnson (Raymond); stepson, Bonnie Brown (Linda); grandchildren, Dale Jones Sr. (Schyan), Jasmine Williams (Alfred), Armand Johnson (Maci), Kendale Theard, and Kaitlyn Conor; great-grandchildren, Dale Jones Jr., Kiera Jones, Kiara Jones, Juan Smith Jr., and Emory Williams; great-great-grandchild, King Jones; along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
