Darlene Marie Cummings Major

Darlene Marie Cummings Major was called from labor to rest on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the age of 67. Darlene was daughter of the late Levy Jr. and Alberta Andrews Cummings; and the appointed daughter of the late William Sr. and Emma Cummings Andrews; granddaughter of the late Levy Sr. and Mary Ellen Bennette Cummings and Rudolph Sr. and Virginia Forbes Andrews. Darlene Marie Cummings Major was the wife of the late Willie John Major, Jr. and the sister of, Janice (late Edward Sr.) Peterson, Maryellen (Carl) Kelly, Willette (Kermit Sr.) Early and William (Jeanelle) Andrews Jr., Goddaughter of Lillie Andrews. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Willie John Major Jr., two brothers Levy Cummings III and Byron Andrews, and three sisters Jeanette Cummings, Kathleen Andrews, Myron Lynn Andrews Green, and her niece Rikki Andrews Parker. Darlene is survived by; her daughter Terenthia Major Saint Preux, son-in-law Marvin Saint Preux and grandchild Major Willie Elysee Saint Preux. She leaves to cherish her memory; three sisters Janice (Late Edward) Peterson, Maryellen (Carl) Kelly, Willette (Kermit) Early, one brother, William (Jeanelle) Andrews Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends. Darlene was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Donald C. Jeanjacques, Sr. She received her education in the New Orleans Public School System. and was a resident of Ferncrest Manor. A Celebration of life honoring Sis Darlene Major will be held Friday, June 21, 2024, at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Marigny St., New Orleans La 70117. Church Visitation 9 am-10am. Services immediately following at 10 am. Rev. Donald C. Jeanjacques, Sr., Officiating, Interment Holt Cemetery. All are invited to attend: True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, and Ferncrest Manor.
