Charles A. Ballansaw Jr. was born on February 14, 1974, in San Francisco, California to Margaret Leblanc and Charles A. Ballansaw Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at second free mission Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Warren J. Ray Sr. He attended Samuel J. Green Middle School and Alcee Fortier Senior High School. He was affectionately called (Figgy) by his family and friends.
Charles (Figgy) was in the ROTC at Samuel J. Green. He was on the drill team at Alcee Fortier Sr. High School. Figgy’s birthday is a significant part of who he was as a person. Figgy had a heart of gold he made everyone around him feel loved. He was a stand-up guy. Figgy loved dancing, singing, and hanging with family and friends. He was known all over the Carrollton area and many other areas of New Orleans and beyond. He loved hanging out on Oak Street by the lot under the tree with the fellas, Big Head corner, Twin’s house eating, and by the neighbor he called MawMaw, doing arts and crafts when he wasn’t walking up and down the streets.
On July 6, 2026 at the age of 52, Figgy departed this earthly life. Charles (Figgy) leaves a legacy of love to his son, Charles Stevenson, his mother Margaret Leblanc, father Charles, A. Ballansaw Sr. (Jacqueline), extended grandmother-Carolyn Leblanc, brothers; Graylin Cass Sr. and Kaliam Scott Sr., sisters - LaKesha (Delius Sr.) and Tanesha. Grandson - Karson Stevenson, aunts; Rosalyn ((Crayton Sr.), Daphne, Yvette, Andrea, Regina and Keisha. Uncles - Antoine and Patrick, nephews- Ayden Deville and Kailum Scott Sr., godmother - Deborah Caldwell (Samuel), along with the host of family and friends. One of his closest high school and neighborhood friends, Veronica Duncan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. James Methodist Church, 1925 Ursulines Avenue beginning 10 am. Church visitation 9 am until service time. Interment Providence Memorial Park. Professional Services Entrusted to: Littlejohn Funeral Home, 2163 Aubry Street, Cal K.
